Garrima Mat 3m - Teal/Navy
This stunning recycled mat is designed by local artist, Christine Slabb of the Bundjalung people. Inspired by Joongarrabah, a peak that overlooks the Tweed and Gold Coast Region, this iconic landmark is a vital part of the local cultural landscape. For many generations, this special place has been significant in the teaching of “Garrima” or 'respect'. The design also created to promotes the beauty, culture and traditions of the local Indigenous people of the Gold Coast.
In collaboration with Recycled Mats, this design was part of a special series commissioned for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. It celebrates the coming together of nations through sport, culture, art and entertainment.
The Garrima mat is a popular choice for classrooms and day care centres, perfect for group time, storytime, show and share, or other learning activities. The dots and patterns can also be used for counting games and interactive learning.
