The Aussie Traveller Anode utilises electrolysis to draw contaminants in the tank water, helping to prevent corrosion in the Hot Water System (HWS) tank. Positioned at the bottom of the HWS beneath the main burner, it can be easily unscrewed to drain the tank.

Performing regular maintenance on your Hot Water System and replacing the anode will help prevent mineral build-up and extend the lifespan of the unit.

It is recommended to check the anode rod annually.

To remove the existing old/used anode:
  • Turn off gas and electrical power supply to the hot water system and wait for the water to cool.
  • Use a 1 1/16" socket to drain the tank.
  • Remove the old anode and any sediment in the tank.
To install the new anode:
  • Seal the threads with appropriate sealing compound or tape. Ensure that whatever is used to seal the threads is approved for drinking water.
  • Insert the Magnesium Anode Rod. Tighten.
  • Refill the hot water system tank and make sure to check for any leaks.
  • Turn on the gas and electrical power to the hot water unit.
